Hunter was up bright and early on Sunday and after a quick breakfast at the old-fashioned diner we were headed up to Big Sky, Montana where we were going to be spending the week with my parents and my sister's family. The drive was to take about 3 1/2 to 4 hours but we knew that we would have to take many breaks since one of Hunter's least favorite things to do is ride in a car.
Our trek through Yellowstone National Park was filled with lots of sitings of elk and buffalo and we were even held up by a buffalo traffic jam which we came to realize over the next several days was a common occurrence in the park. Hunter refused to sit in his car seat so instead of fighting the battle and having my blood pressure remain at a constant level of near heart attack, I opted to sit in the back holding him through the park.

One of our long breaks was once we hit the town of West, Yellowstone, which was still an hour from our destination, where we walked around and enjoyed the cool, crisp summer air of Montana. At about 1:30, we finally made it to Big Sky and stopped at the local brewery for lunch because we NEEDED a beer with lunch after that six hour journey. The brewery actually had a kids play area where Hunter was able to let off some steam as well!

We finally pulled up to our home for the week around 2:30 and relaxed while we waited for my sister's family to arrive that evening. Mom made dinner for the family that night so we could all rest up for what turned out to be a very full day of driving on Monday!

Dear Hunter,
What a day! I think it is safe to say that you are going to be spending a lot of time in the car this trip and if it takes you having to sit in my lap to be happy so be it. Here is one of those battles that your momma is just not going to fight because the sanity of everyone else is more important! You seem to really enjoy the house we are staying in which is a major plus. The weather is also perfect for you since you are such a hot baby. We are looking forward to tomorrow and getting into the park to explore.
Love you,
Mommy and Daddy
